So, there you are sitting online wondering what to do to get you or your product out there for all to see…
Let me tell you why video is very important to your blog or business.
Why video is important
You know it’s true.
We all at some point in time have gone online and watched countless hours of videos. Whether it is music, funny or whatever type of video, we have all been there.
Most people are just posting to get seen, show that they are capable of pulling off something just to get a laugh or like, right?
Well, have you ever seen how many likes those videos get? Sometimes they get hundreds of thousands and for what, a man jumping off his garage into a trash can only to split his crotch!
Yeah, funny stuff yet look how many people are viewing them.
Now, can you imagine what would happen if you put a video out there for a blog post or some type of business or opportunity? Don’t you think you might get the same amount of people viewing your videos as well? Sure, why not.
Now, yeah, most of the time when people are getting that many view or likes, it is usually something pretty damn stupid.
I’m not saying you have to go out and do something off the wall nuts to get whatever you are promoting yet, it is better than not posting anything at all.
Would you believe that I have another website that is dedicated to Star Wars LEGO products and I have made a ton of videos for the YouTube channel I have for that blog?
Here is a video I shot for my LEGO blog:
Well, I do and not only that I have another website for recovering alcoholics where I also have videos for.
You see, I hate the way my voice sounds on camera, I am missing some of my front teeth because my partial broke yet what do I do…I still make the videos!
The most difficult part of making videos is one thing (at least it was for me) is pretending that you are sitting there having a conversation with someone right in front of you. LOL
It is not easy yet after a while you realize that you are talking to someone in front of you, maybe a possible customer?? You see what I am getting at?
One other thing… Make sure you know what you are talking about or discussing. There is nothing worse than listening to someone say “um” or “uh” every five seconds, it makes you seem to not know what your are talking about. And that can kill it right there!
What videos should you put on a blog?
Anything! But keep this in mind, if it is a business blog then remember this, if it is a serious business, you need a serious video.
If it is a relaxed blog like most of mine are then, keep it loose.
One thing to always remember other than any of all that is you need to put your heart and soul into it, make sure you get your point across within the first 5 minutes or you might lose a potential customer.
I’m not going to go into statistics on how long someone stays on a video before they jump off, I’ll leave that up to you to decide. I still feel that a bunch of people sitting around gathering info on how long one stays on a video is like predicting the future, it’s not gunna happen.
What is going to happen is this, if your video is interesting, you’re going to keep people watching. If it is boring or they feel like you are lecturing them, you may lose them within seconds!
Always keep your video relevant to what you are promoting though, that is the most important thing you can do.
Oh, and forget worrying about special software that makes your video POP. Flashy video’s tend to give me bad headaches and also get people to go running for the hills that way.
One thing I do suggest is this when it comes to your videos other than what I have mentioned above; learn how to SEO them properly. It can make a huge difference in who see’s them.
There are a ton of videos out there that show’s you how to set up your videos for this. I happen to like the person I follow online, he always says “he has a face for radio”. Go check out http://davidboozer.me if you want to see how to SEO your video’s correctly, he is very good at it!
I have many blooper reels for all of my videos as well! I have yet to make a video without messing up or messing around trying new things and for the first time ever.
I am going to share one of those with you… NOBODY has ever viewed the video here, EVER. ROFL:
Why video is very important to your blog or business
To get out there and be seen. Have a video that someone will watch and say “I get it” or “hell yeah, I want in on that”!
When that happens, you’re golden.
One thing you will notice; if it is an awesome informative video, people will flock to it and tell all of their friends about it or share it out in which many many will see it and hopefully go viral. because that is what we want.
Video is more important nowadays because like I said in the beginning, people are lazy.
They would rather sit and watch video’s all day then to sit there and actually have to read.
Now, not everyone is like that so, you need to mix it up a bit and throw some of that written word in with your videos. After all, they need to know what they are about to watch.
I would say the only time that you would not have to worry about that is with a landing page on your blog. I suggest making them autoplay. It is easy to do with a little html code thrown into the video code when posting it into your blog. Even if you don’t know code, there are videos for that too, it’s way too easy. 🙂
As for other video’s on your blog, I would suggest just letting it sit there and let them decide if they want to watch it or not. Don’t be overly pushy with your videos. Let them read what you have written and then if they like what they have or are reading and want to see more, there you go, they will then hit the play button.
Also, make sure the video’s image is about what you are talking about, make it relevant as well. I just makes sense that way.
So, after reading this post I hope you understand why video is very important to your blog or business.
Thanks for stopping by and reading this post. You see, if I just videoed this whole thing, it would be named a VLOG. 😉
