Oh boy…I picked a doozie of a topic today folks.
I was thinking the other day and was wondering, What is with all of these hashtags? Are we humans or computers?
Now, I know what the importance of a hashtag is for, after reading miles of mind numbing articles on the subject.
I just got to a point where I thought to myself, we are starting to resemble the computer and drifting away from what we truly are.
What is with all of these hashtags? Are we humans or computers?
Think about it for a second will you?
The more we go into the internet age the more we are thinking and even starting to talk and act like computers.
The last time I looked at myself I never have seen an electrical plug sticking out of me.
But at the same time notice that if I don’t have my cell phone with me, I get a little uneasy.
Yeah, I don’t know where I am going with all this myself, bare with me though…
Back in the day, the hashtag or number symbol was just a way of showing there was a number following it.
Nowadays it is something completely different!
When I blog, the one thing that I really never have bothered with is keyword research. Why? Because…I write about what I want
to write about and don’t worry to much if that is a trending subject or not.
Now, a friend and mentor of mine might want to slap me upside the head for this and say…no wonder you’re not being found!
But in all reality, I am hoping there are humans out there like myself. Ones that don’t bother with trending subjects and just
want some honest to goodness personal thoughts on things and search accordingly.
I like to think of myself as old school and try not to get caught up in the new ways of doing things and yes, that may be holding
me back but I am just fine with that.
Let me give an example of something that I am noticing with my blogs lately…
My LEGO hobby blog gets at most 1-2 people a day if that for blogging about something that is trending, #LEGO,#Star Wars.
My personal blog is getting tons of people reading the posts and not once have I researched any keywords for my topics.
So you see, not all searches are for things that are trending. Some people just want to hear what you have in your head.
Seems to me that computers want to link to what other computers are linked to more than what us as humans want to be linked
to which is the old way of interacting with one and another.
Am I getting off topic or am I?
On to what I came here for…A rant against the hashtag!
What is with all of these hashtags?
I know the importance of the hashtag as stated above. I get it…I really do but why so many???
Why is it that we are feeling the need to hashtag every little thing that is posted?
Here let me give you an #example of what you may see nowadays on any given #socialmedia post or #tweet of even a text between
- Today I went down to #gamestop and bought the new #splintercell #game, it is totally #rad!
- Was thinking of going to the #pool to hang out with some #friends of #mine, some had #Coke and some had #Pepsi but
none of them had #Redbull, so I did not go to the #pool.
Why why why all the hashtags?
Have we got to the point in our #society where we feel the need to #keyword every word we speak or #text?
Is that annoying to you as well?
While writing this post I can not see what these hashtags are doing to my post but have the feeling that when I post this they will
all be lit up blue!
All my luck is that they will and I will get slapped with over stuffing #keywords in my post ( I laugh but don’t care )!
When did we start talking like computers?
They are only aids, people. Computers might run our lives to some point but damn, do they have to be in everything we do? NO!
You see, I do know the importance of a hashtag.
They go hand in hand with tags, like those that you may use in a blog post or a #picture on your social media.
Just seems like they are being over used.
Not everything in this world is a keyword! Or a hashtag!!
I am not the only one who thinks this…
Here is a video with #JimmyFallon making fun of the use of hashtags, watch below:
Ya get it now what I am getting at?
I was going to do a whole post with nothing but hashtags but, thought that may be just a tad bit much seeing how the only time
I honestly only use a hashtag when I am posting my nickname on #Twitter.
I’m thinking, just as an experiment on my LEGO hobby blog using some hashtags to see what it does for me but will not
My personal blog is for that kind of #experiment.
Actually my whole intention for this #website is just for seeing what I can get away with on a #blog.
So far, I am seeing that I can actually get away with a ton of things! LOL
Well, that is all I have for in this rant today.
I can see where #hashtags may help with the #SEO of your #website now as well.
Maybe I can use my #stopwords more effectively by just sticking a # next to them, who knows…
Thanks for taking the time to read my post “what is with all of these hashtags?”
Leave any comments you want on this #subject.
Are you for them or against them? Hashtags that is…
Have a great #day!
